The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a protest by the African Americans about the bus system in the Montgomery area. The buses had a rule that white people sat in the front and African Americans sat at the back. The blacks were angry because they couldn't walk through the front part of the bus because thats where the whites sat but they had to pay at the front of the bus, so they had to enter at a door in the rear. It all started when people got angry when Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat for a white male. African American Leaders had a meeting and said to the blacks of montgomery to boycott the buses for 1 day but the leaders didnt think it was going to work as well as it did . The boycott lasted for 381 days until the US Supreme Court said segregation on buses is unconstitutional and ordered a change.
